Luxury hotel barging aboard Magna Carta has always been a guaranteed way to relax. With the ever changing scenery, the superb service and the spacious interior, guests can indulge in the finer things of life while every need is taken care of. With the introduction of the “Health and Relaxation Cruise”, river barging takes on an entirely new dimension.
Before we consider the daily excursions, Magna Carta already comes equipped with a sunken on-deck Jacuzzi, reclining teak deck chairs and mountain bikes for daily use.
The accommodations aboard Magna Carta are among the finest in the river barge cruising world. King size beds with Egyptian cotton linen, spacious en-suite facilities, under floor heating and air-conditioning make your cabin the perfect place to start and finish each day aboard.
Our expert chef will fine-tune the cuisine, as always, to individual requirements, but during this cruise the emphasis will be on healthy eating.
Guest appearances may include a personal trainer, a yoga trainer, a dietician, a beauty therapist or an expert in aromatherapy. There will be numerous options during the vacation to cater for all tastes.
Here are some of the possibilities available during the six-night cruise:
Bisham Abbey
The British National Sports Centre is a most beautiful riverside location where top sporting stars come to train before major events. The most modern facilities lie easily beside the ancient buildings containing rooms that once played host to Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. Here we can play squash or tennis, or even spend a day with the Bisham Abbey Sailing School.
Oakley Court Hotel and Spa
This Gothic mansion for many years a film location, (Hammer Horror, Dracula, Rocky Horror Picture Show) is now one of the finest riverside hotels. We are able to use the spa facilities and also take advantage of their 9-hole golf course.
Wren’s Club
Part of the Christopher Wren hotel on the bank of the river in Windsor (once home to the great architect himself). We have use of the most up to date gymnasium in the area.
Cliveden Spa
We visit the Cliveden Spa. William Waldorf Astor built his wife Nancy a magnificent outdoor pool in the walled garden to deter her from swimming in the river. This heated pool has since been complemented by the addition of The Cliveden Spa. This includes an indoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms, plus seven massage and treatment rooms.
Runnymede Spa
Situated close to the spot where King John sealed the Magna Carta this has long been a favourite with our guests. The facilities include swimming pool, steam room, sauna, dance studios and gymnasium. Outdoor tennis is another option here.
Golf
There are many local courses to choose from including famous championship clubs such as Wentworth and Sunningdale.
Horse riding and water-skiing
Both may be arranged on request.
